Thanks for sharing those details about the throttle body repair. Your case sounds really similar to what I experienced, my Taigo had the exact same idle problems and rough running. I got it fixed about 3 months ago. Quick question, do you remember roughly what you paid for the complete repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix? In my case, they also found a small vacuum leak during the inspection that needed attention. Just want to compare notes to make sure I wasnt overcharged, and to know if I should watch out for any recurring issues with the air supply system.

The total repair came to 175€ for fixing the faulty hose connection between the pump and air valve. Since having it repaired, the idle problems have completely disappeared and the engine runs perfectly smooth. The manifold pressure readings are now stable, and the previous rough running issues are gone. It was definitely worth addressing both the air valve problem and that vacuum leak they found. These problems often occur together since the whole air supply system is interconnected. My advice would be to keep an eye on the idle behavior over the next few months, but you shouldnt see any recurring issues if the repair was done properly. The price you mentioned seems reasonable considering they had to diagnose and fix multiple components in the air intake system. Modern engines really depend on having properly functioning air supply components for optimal performance.

The mechanic visit went better than expected. After checking the vacuum hoses and air intake system, they found both the throttle body issue and a small vacuum leak, just like you mentioned. Total cost was 220€ for parts and labor, which seemed fair given the work involved. The repair took about 3 hours. They did a thorough job cleaning the throttle body, replacing the damaged air valve components, and fixing that vacuum leak. The idle problems cleared up right away and the check engine light hasnt come back on since. Its been running great for the past 2 weeks, no more rough starts or irregular idle. The air supply system seems to be working perfectly now. Really glad I got it sorted before it caused any serious engine damage. The mechanic mentioned these issues are pretty common once these engines get higher mileage. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It helped me know what to expect and made me feel more confident about the repair process.

Recently dealt with similar idle problems and engine stalling in my 2018 VW T-Roc. The symptoms matched exactly, rough running at startup and inconsistent idle. Diagnosis revealed a damaged throttle body air valve and compromised air supply connection. The main issue was a deteriorated hose between the air pump and throttle body valve, causing incorrect air-fuel mixture and engine management issues. The repair required: Complete throttle body cleaning, Replacement of the main air supply hose, Recalibration of the throttle position sensor, Updated ECU programming This was classified as a serious repair since continued operation could have led to further engine management issues and potential engine damage. The flashing check engine light indicates a misfire condition that should be addressed promptly. Getting this fixed quickly is important, driving with these symptoms can cause catalyst damage. The repair took about 4 hours at the shop. Make sure they perform a complete diagnostic scan, as various sensors in the air intake system could also be affected. This is a common issue in modern VW engines with electronic throttle control systems when they reach this mileage range.
