Thanks for sharing your Touareg repair experience. Just went through nearly identical electronic brake problems with my 2009 Tiguan. The brake fault symptoms and warning lights match exactly what I dealt with. Would you remember the total cost for your repair? My shop initially quoted parts and labor but I want to compare. Also curious if you had any related brake sensor or brake switch issues pop up since getting it fixed? Sometimes these electronic brake problems reveal other underlying faults in the system. My vehicle safety inspection is due soon so I should probably address this quickly rather than wait. Just trying to budget appropriately since these electronic parking brake repairs can get expensive.

Just circling back on the repair costs, I paid 505€ total for fixing the electronic parking brake malfunction on my Touareg. The main expense was replacing the defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Since having the repair done, the parking brake has worked flawlessly with no additional brake sensor issues or warning lights. Getting this addressed before your safety inspection is definitely the right call. Electronic brake failures need immediate attention, its not worth risking further damage or safety issues by delaying the repair. While the cost might seem high, the brake diagnostics and repair resolved the problem completely. The brake control system has been reliable ever since, with no system glitches or related problems. The parking brake engages smoothly now and the warning lights cleared up as soon as the new motor was installed and calibrated.

Finally went ahead and got my Tiguan fixed last week. The mechanic found the same brake fault, failed motor in the electronic brake caliper. Total repair came to 480€ including parts and labor, which was actually less than expected after seeing the quotes others shared. The brake control system works perfectly now. No more warning lights or engagement issues with the electronic parking brake. The brake sensor readings are all normal according to their diagnostic scan. Really glad I didnt wait any longer to get it done. Shop completed the repair in about 3 hours. They showed me the worn brake switch and motor components they replaced. Makes sense why the system was acting up. Passed the safety inspection with no problems after the fix. For anyone else facing similar electronic brake issues, definitely worth getting it checked out right away. The repair cost was reasonable considering the safety implications of a faulty parking brake system.

Last month had the same electronic parking brake issue on a 2011 VW Touareg TDI. The brake warning light came on and the parking brake stopped engaging completely. The brake diagnostics revealed a failed electric motor in the brake caliper, which controls the parking brake mechanism. This is not a simple system glitch, its a serious brake failure that needs immediate attention. The brake sensor detected the motor failure and triggered the warning system as designed. The repair required removing the brake caliper assembly and replacing the electronic brake motor unit. Without proper brake control, the car could roll when parked on any incline. The electronic parking brake system is a critical safety component. Had to order the specific brake control module since these parts are model-specific. The repair took about 4 hours of labor. Would recommend getting this fixed quickly, parking brake failures can lead to dangerous situations and potentially damage other brake components if left unaddressed. Most VW dealers and qualified shops should be able to diagnose and repair electronic parking brake issues, as this is a relatively common problem on these models after extended use.
