VW Touareg Power Loss & Jerky Acceleration Issues

My Touareg is acting up with power loss and jerking when I press the gas. The check engine light just came on and the engine runs pretty rough, especially during acceleration. Seems like its not getting enough fuel. The car is a 2020 model with gasoline engine and 82000km on it. Had some bad experiences with mechanics before, so wondering if anyone here dealt with similar symptoms? Really hoping its not the mass air flow sensor or throttle body since those repairs were crazy expensive on my previous car. Any tips on what to check first or trusted repair solutions would be great.

Had the exact same symptoms with my 2017 VW Tiguan a while back. The check engine light came on, followed by power loss and rough running, especially when pressing the throttle. The issue turned out to be a faulty fuel injector. One cylinder was not getting proper fuel delivery, causing misfires and uneven running. The diagnostic scan pointed to injector issues, and a visual inspection of the intake manifold area showed fuel residue around one of the injectors. The repair required: Complete injector set replacement, New seals and gaskets, Fuel system cleaning, Computer reset and adaptation This was definitely a serious repair that needed immediate attention. Continuing to drive with a bad injector risks damaging the catalytic converter due to unburned fuel. The throttle body and EGR valve were also checked but found to be working properly. Would suggest getting it diagnosed soon, as failing injectors typically dont fix themselves and can cause additional problems if left unaddressed. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, though a proper diagnostic scan will confirm the exact cause.

Thanks for the detailed info about the injector replacement. My symptoms sound identical, especially the power loss and rough running. I am planning to take it to a shop this week. The mass air flow sensor and throttle body thankfully checked out fine with a basic scan tool. My check engine light shows a misfire code which lines up with your fuel injector diagnosis. Would you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also curious if youve had any related issues pop up since the fix?

The repair cost came to 515€ total, with the faulty injector being the main issue. After replacing it, all the symptoms completely cleared up. The engine runs perfectly now, they confirmed it was running too lean before due to the bad injector not delivering enough fuel. The oxygen sensor readings are now showing correct fuel mixture, and the engine performs smoothly across all RPM ranges. The intake manifold and surrounding components were also inspected during the repair and found to be in good condition. Its been 8 months since the fix with zero related problems. The misfire codes havent returned, and fuel economy is actually better now that the proper fuel-air mixture is restored. Getting it fixed promptly likely prevented damage to other components like the catalytic converter. My advice would be to get it repaired soon since a faulty injector can cause additional issues if left too long. The symptoms and codes youre seeing match exactly what I experienced before the repair.

I took the car to the mechanic yesterday and wow, you were spot on about everything. The diagnostic confirmed it was indeed a faulty fuel injector causing the misfire codes and rough running. The total repair came to 490€, which included replacing the injector set and cleaning the fuel system. They also checked the mass air flow sensor and spark plugs while they were at it, just to be thorough. Everything else looked good. The difference in how the car runs now is like night and day. No more jerking or power loss during acceleration, and the check engine light is gone. The engine runs smooth and quiet like it should. Really glad I got it fixed before it could cause problems with the catalytic converter or other components. For anyone else reading this with similar symptoms, dont wait around hoping it will fix itself. Getting it diagnosed and repaired promptly saved me from potentially bigger issues down the road.
