VW Touran Transport Mode Causes Electrical Glitches

I had nearly the identical issue with my VW Tiguan 2019, also with a gasoline engine. Having some experience with automotive electrical systems, I first tried the basic steps like disconnecting the battery, but that did not resolve the warnings. The transport mode is a common cause for electrical malfunctions in newer VW models. My service center confirmed this was exactly the issue, the car was still in transport mode from factory delivery. The solution required a software update and specific car configuration changes to fully activate all systems. The repair was completely free since it was a new vehicle setup issue. The workshop only needed about an hour to complete the procedure. They used their diagnostic system to deactivate transport mode and run a full system check to ensure all modules were communicating properly. To provide more specific guidance: What trim level is your Touran? Have you noticed any issues with the key fob or immobilizer system? These details would help determine if your situation matches what I experienced. The workshop should be able to quickly verify if transport mode is still active through their diagnostic tools. Make sure to have them check all control modules are properly initialized after deactivating transport mode.

Last serviced at 89000km with no previous electrical issues reported. Thanks for the detailed information. I can confirm my symptoms match exactly what you described. This gives me more confidence the transport mode could be the root cause. The trim level is Highline and yes, the key fob has been acting strange lately, sometimes requiring multiple presses to lock the doors. The vehicle settings menu is also partially inaccessible since these electrical problems started. I will schedule a diagnostic check at the workshop to specifically check for active transport mode. Did your service center mention how the transport mode could have been accidentally reactivated after initial delivery?

Thanks for providing those additional details about your Touran. The key fob issues and inaccessible vehicle settings menu strongly align with my Tiguan experience. The car electronics behaving erratically like this is a telltale sign of transport mode interference. In my case, the service center explained that transport mode can sometimes reactivate after certain repairs or when the car configuration gets corrupted following a battery disconnect. They mentioned this happens more frequently in models with advanced driver assistance systems. During my repair, they found that several control modules had reverted to their factory state, which triggered the transport mode. The fix involved a complete system reset and reconfiguration of all modules. After the repair, both the engine start reliability and key fob functionality returned to normal. Make sure the workshop performs a full system scan, in my case they found additional modules affected beyond just the obvious navigation and electrical warnings. The complete repair process included: Deactivating transport mode, Updating control module software, Reconfiguring vehicle settings, Testing all electrical systems The total repair time was about 90 minutes and resolved all issues completely.

Thanks everyone for sharing these insights. Following up on my case, took the car to the workshop yesterday and you were absolutely right. The automotive diagnostic scan revealed transport mode was indeed active, causing all those electrical malfunctions. The service center found that a recent battery replacement had triggered a system reset which partially reactivated transport mode. They performed a complete software update on multiple control modules and properly deactivated transport mode. The repair process took about 2 hours and cost 180€ for the diagnostic work and reconfiguration. All electrical systems are now working perfectly, the navigation is back online, no more warning messages, and the key fob works first time every time. The car electronics are functioning as they should, with all vehicle settings fully accessible again. Really appreciate the guidance from this forum. Having your experiences to reference helped me better communicate the issue to the workshop and understand the repair process. This will hopefully help others who encounter similar transport mode problems with their vehicles.
