Thanks for checking. The pump makes no noise at all when activated and yes, the issue affects both front and rear washers. Its completely silent, which makes me think the windshield washer pump might have failed. No visible fluid leaks anywhere. I scanned it, error code shows P0480. Latest service was 2 months ago at 102855km. The windshield cleaning system worked fine until last week when it suddenly stopped without warning. Will check the fuses as suggested. Does anyone know the typical cost for a washer pump replacement if thats needed? The local parts store shows pump prices around 45-85€.

Thanks for the additional details. Since you mentioned no pump noise at all, this definitely points to a different issue than what I had with my Golf. The error code P0480 typically relates to the cooling fan control circuit, not the washer system, so there might be multiple issues at play here. Before replacing the pump, a few things to check: The wiper system fuse (usually 15 or 20 amp), The electrical connector at the washer pump for corrosion, The spray jets for blockages, though this would still allow pump noise A complete washer pump replacement on these VW models runs about 120-150€ total including labor. The part itself costs what you found, but install typically takes about an hour since they need to remove the wheel well liner to access it properly. I had my pump replaced about 2 years after the sensor issue I mentioned earlier. The symptoms were identical to what youre describing, no noise, no spray, warning light on dash. Labor was 65€ plus an 80€ pump at my local shop. Worth noting that if your spray jets are the heated type, those connections should be tested too since a fault there can prevent the pump from activating.

The fuse was the first thing I checked after reading these replies. Turns out it was blown, a simple 20 amp fuse replacement fixed everything! The warning light is now off and both front and rear spray jets are working perfectly again. The windshield washer system is spraying great and the pump makes its normal sound. Total cost was just 2€ for a new fuse. Glad I didnt jump straight to replacing the pump. I cleared the error code and it hasnt come back. Really appreciate everyone taking time to help diagnose this wiper fluid issue. Will definitely remember to check fuses first if I have similar problems in the future. For anyone finding this thread later, a completely dead washer system with no pump noise could just be a blown fuse. Worth checking before assuming expensive repairs are needed.

Had the exact same issue on my 2006 VW Golf with the 1.6L gasoline engine last winter, very similar washer system to your Touran. As someone with basic maintenance experience, I first thought it was just low washer fluid, but the dashboard light stayed on even after refilling. Took it to a workshop where they found the washer fluid level sensor was faulty, causing the system to think it was empty. They cleaned the sensor connections and replaced a small wire that had corroded. Total cost was 25€ for parts and labor. A few tips before heading to the shop: Check if the washer fluid pump makes any sound when activated, Look for any visible leaks under the car, Verify all fuses related to the wiper system are good Could you share: Does the pump make any noise when you try to spray? Have you noticed any washer fluid leaks? Did you scan the error code? Is this issue on both front and rear washers? This info would help determine if its just a sensor issue like mine or potentially a pump problem.
