Thanks for sharing that info about the coil pack issue. My engine hesitation problems cleared up completely after the repair. The vehicle diagnostics showed similar misfire codes and the check engine light went away right after fixing it. The ignition system has been running smooth for the past 6 months with no issues. Would you mind sharing how much the repair cost in your case? Just curious if prices have gone up since I had mine done. Also wondering if you noticed any other issues pop up after getting the coils replaced?

After getting the ignition coil fixed, the repair cost came to 95€ for fixing the faulty connection. The mechanic found the issue was actually in the cable and plug connections rather than needing a full coil replacement, which saved quite a bit on parts costs. No other problems have surfaced in the year since the repair. The misfire codes cleared immediately after fixing the defective ignition coil, and the check engine light has stayed off. The engine runs perfectly smooth now with no hesitation or rough idle issues. Those early warning signs of spark plug misfires and coil failure were spot on, getting it fixed promptly likely prevented more expensive repairs down the line. Regular maintenance checks have shown everything else in the ignition system is working as it should.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I took my VW to a certified shop last week and the diagnostic scan confirmed the ignition coil failure. The coil pack on cylinder 2 was bad and they replaced both the coil and spark plug. Total repair came to 280€ including parts and labor. Not cheap but worth it since the engine hesitation and stalling issues disappeared completely. The check engine light cleared right after the fix and acceleration is smooth again with no jerking. Really glad I got it sorted quickly instead of waiting. The mechanic showed me the worn spark plug and explained how a failing coil could have damaged other engine components if left unchecked. Regular maintenance checks are now scheduled to catch any future ignition system problems early.

Had the exact same symptoms on a 2017 VW Tiguan with the 2.0 TSI engine. The rough idle and stalling turned out to be a faulty ignition coil on cylinder 3, which also triggered the check engine light. The jerking during acceleration is a classic sign of coil failure. These symptoms occur because the failing coil creates misfires, especially under load. The diagnosis was straightforward, scan showed misfire codes and swapping coils between cylinders confirmed the faulty unit. This is actually a fairly common issue on these engines. While not catastrophically serious, it needs prompt attention since continuing to drive with a bad coil can damage the spark plug and catalytic converter. The repair involved replacing both the coil and spark plug on the affected cylinder since they often wear together. The fix completely resolved the stalling and rough running. These engines typically need coil replacement around 60000-80000km, so the timing matches your situation. Would strongly recommend getting it checked soon before it leads to more extensive engine damage.
