VW Virtus Power Seat Failure: Owner Seeks Repair Tips

Looking for help with my 2023 VW Virtus power seats issue. The passenger seat adjustment stopped working completely and the system shows an error code. The electric seat functions on the passenger side are unresponsive, but the driver side works fine. Has anyone encountered similar problems with their automotive seat controls? Interested in knowing what the repair involved and how your workshop resolved it. Could it be a wiring issue or something more serious with the seat adjustment mechanism?

Having encountered a similar issue with my 2021 VW Jetta, I can share my experience. The power seats on the passenger side suddenly stopped working, showing an error message just like yours. After some basic troubleshooting, my workshop identified that a heavily discharged battery was causing the electric seat functions to fail. The seat switch and controls were fine, but the system was protecting itself by shutting down non-essential power functions. The repair involved: Complete battery diagnostics, Battery replacement, System reset for the power seats, Testing all seat adjustment functions Total cost was 290€ for parts and labor. The fix took about 2 hours, and all electric seat functions returned to normal after the battery replacement. To provide more specific guidance, could you share: Does your battery warning light show on the dashboard? Have you noticed other electrical issues? When did the car seat controls stop working, gradually or suddenly? Are there any other electrical features not working properly? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my vehicle.

Thanks for your detailed response regarding the seat adjustment problem. Had my regular service just last week at 43943km, and they did a full electrical systems check. The passenger seat stopped working quite suddenly yesterday with no warning signs. Interestingly, my battery and all other electrical components work perfectly, no warning lights or issues with other systems. Just the passenger side electric seat controls are completely dead, while the driver seat functions normally. The clicking sound when pressing the seat switch is also missing, which makes me think it might be a different issue than what you experienced with your battery. Could this point more towards a faulty seat control module or wiring?

Thanks for those additional details about your passenger seat issue. The symptoms you describe are indeed different from my battery-related experience, especially since your other electrical systems are working fine. The missing clicking sound when operating the seat controls is particularly telling. In my case, even with the low battery, the switch still made an audible click. Your situation sounds more like a seat motor or control module failure. After dealing with various electric seat problems in my VW, here are the most likely causes based on what you describe: Failed seat control module, Broken wire harness under the seat, Defective seat motor assembly, Faulty switch panel The repair in these cases typically runs between 350-600€ depending on which component needs replacement. The most common fix is replacing the complete seat motor unit, as individual parts are often not serviceable. Since your car is a 2023 model, this should be covered under warranty. Would strongly suggest having the dealer run a full diagnostic on the power seats system to pinpoint the exact component failure. Have you checked if the seat moves at all or if its completely unresponsive in all directions? This information could help narrow down if its a single motor or the entire control system.

A quick follow-up on my seat control issue: I tested all seat adjustment directions and the seat remains completely unresponsive no matter which control I use. No movement, no sound, nothing at all from the passenger automotive seat. I scheduled a warranty service appointment since the car is still under coverage. The service advisor mentioned they have seen similar electric seat failures in other new models, often related to the control module. They will run a full diagnostic on the seat harness and electrical systems. Will update once they identify and fix the exact cause of the passenger seat malfunction. Really hoping its just the control module and not a more complex wiring issue that could take longer to repair. Thanks for helping me understand the potential problems, your input definitely helped me better explain the symptoms to the service department.
