VW Virtus TCM Failure Causing Major Transmission Issues

Looking for advice on transmission control issues with my relatively new VW. The car computer shows gearbox errors and the transmission diagnosis points to major electronic issues. The paddles are unresponsive, gear changes are rough with grinding sounds, and sometimes the gearbox goes into limp mode. Its a 2023 VW Virtus, gasoline engine with just 17800km on the clock. Already had one unsuccessful repair attempt at a shop. Has anyone dealt with similar gearbox issues and can recommend what to check or how to approach the repair? Particularly interested in experiences with transmission control unit replacements. I know these problems shouldnt occur in such a new car, but here we are. Any help appreciated.

Had similar transmission control issues on a 2020 VW Jetta. The symptoms matched exactly, automatic gearbox errors, grinding during shifts, and the transmission going into limp mode. The electronic issues turned out to be a faulty transmission control module. After thorough diagnosis, the control unit needed complete replacement. The transmission repair involved installing a new module and reprogramming the entire transmission control system. The automatic gearbox needed recalibration to work properly with the new unit. This is definitely a serious issue requiring specialist attention. The control module is a critical component that manages all electronic communication between the transmission and engine. When it fails, it can potentially cause permanent damage to the transmission if not addressed quickly. The repair took several days since the new control unit needed proper coding and testing. After replacement, all transmission functions returned to normal, smooth gear changes, responsive paddle shifters, and no more error codes. Recommend getting this checked at a dealer or specialist workshop with proper diagnostic equipment for transmission control systems. This isnt a problem that typical repair shops can easily resolve without specific VW diagnostic tools.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the transmission repair. Your case sounds identical to my situation, especially the rough shifting and error codes from the car computer. Really helpful to know that replacing the control unit fixed these gearbox issues completely. Would you remember approximately how much the transmission control module replacement cost? Also curious if youve had any electronic issues or transmission problems since the repair was done? Hope my new VW wont need another transmission repair after fixing this, but its good to know what worked in your case.

The transmission repair cost me around 1000€ for the new control unit and programming work. Since having the transmission control unit replaced, the automatic gearbox has worked flawlessly. No more error codes, grinding noises, or electronic issues with the transmission. The gearbox issues completely disappeared after fixing the defective control unit. All gear changes are now smooth, and the paddle shifters respond perfectly. The transmission diagnosis confirmed everything is working as it should. Given our cars have such similar problems, you should see the same positive results once the faulty control module is replaced. Just make sure the workshop has proper diagnostic equipment for transmission control systems to ensure correct programming of the new unit. The repair was definitely worth the investment to restore proper transmission function and prevent any potential long-term damage to the gearbox components.

Thanks for the advice. I finally got the transmission repair done last week. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed the faulty control module causing all those gearbox issues. The car computer showed multiple transmission errors during their diagnosis. The automatic gearbox repair cost me 1200€ total, including the new control unit and programming. The shop had all the right diagnostic equipment and really knew what they were doing with transmission control systems. After 3 days in the shop, picked up the car and the difference is amazing. No more grinding during gear changes, paddle shifters work perfectly, and all those transmission problems are gone. The car shifts as smoothly as when it was new. Really glad I got this fixed at a proper workshop instead of trying more general repair shops. Worth every cent to have the transmission working properly again and prevent any further damage to the gearbox.
