Warning light and system readiness check on 2016 BMW 3 Series

Hey guys, recently started having a problem with my 2016 BMW 3 series diesel with 56432 km on the odometer. Noticed a warning light come on in the speedo the other day and I suspect it has something to do with the system readiness check. Has anyone experienced this before and can give me any tips? Would love to know what your experience has been, especially after my last stupid experience at the mechanic. Thanks in advance!

Hello, my 2013 BMW 5 series diesel was experiencing similar symptoms. The indicator light kept coming on sporadically and it was actually the system readiness check. It was not a minor issue. According to the mechanic, it was a fault in the engine control unit. They had to carry out a comprehensive diagnosis to find and rectify the fault. According to the mechanic, it's a relatively common problem they encounter. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but afterwards the car ran like new again. Definitely make an appointment at the garage. I hope this helps you a bit.

Hey, thanks for your reply! That's really bad to hear that it's not a simple fault, but it's good to know that your car ran like new again afterwards. Can you remember how much the whole thing cost to repair? And have you had any other problems since then?

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! So to your last point, since the mechanic visit, the problem with the system readiness check has been fixed perfectly. So far, the indicator light hasn't come back on and the car is running perfectly. As far as the costs are concerned, I can reassure you - it didn't cost me anything. The car was completely new and there was no usage problem on my part. It should be the same for you, right? In this case, the manufacturer's warranty will cover the costs. Don't be afraid to ask for it. I hope that reassures you a little. So, cheer up and don't panic, you'll be fine!

Hey, that's a relief! Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I'll take your tips into account and take my car to the garage as soon as possible. And great that you haven't had any further problems and hopefully it stays that way! I will keep you up to date. Until then, thanks again and have a nice day!
