Warning light in the speedometer: possible brake wear on the 2017 Skoda Fabia

Hello community, I have a problem with my 2017 Skoda Fabia (petrol, 65412 km run) and it's making me really nervous. Last week a warning light came on in the speedometer and I'm worried that the brakes might be worn out. I unfortunately had a bad experience with my garage last time and would hate to take the car back there. Have any of you experienced something similar and can help me? Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a 2014 Skoda Octavia and had a similar problem not too long ago. In my case, it wasn't just the brakes, but I had to have the entire brake system replaced, from the brake pads to the brake discs. It was quite a job, but it was a serious problem and couldn't be put off any longer. Hopefully it's not that bad for you. I would recommend you get the car checked by another garage. Good luck, hopefully it's nothing major!

Hey, thanks for the advice. That really sounds like quite a slog. Do you happen to remember how much you paid for the whole job? Have you had any other problems with your car since then or has everything been running smoothly since the repair? Thank you and best regards!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for. The whole thing was actually a bit annoying, but since the repair everything has been running like clockwork! The worn brakes in particular were fixed and I haven't had to go back to the mechanic since. And to your question: The repair of the defective wear indicator cable cost me €75, so the financial loss is really within reasonable limits. See you soon and have a good ride!

Hey, great, that reassures me a little. I'll start looking for a trustworthy workshop and hope my costs stay within reasonable limits. Thanks again for the information and the good wishes! See you then and have a safe journey!
