(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2016 Mercedes ML Class with warning signals indicating potential low engine oil pressure. The core problem is the oil light being on, which could suggest low oil pressure. Possible causes include incorrect oil type, faulty sensors, clogged filters, or a failing oil pump. Suggested solutions involve checking oil levels, conducting a diagnostic scan, and consulting a reputable mechanic for further inspection to prevent potential engine damage.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Your experience doesn't sound so good... Now you're scaring me a bit that I might have engine damage too. Do you have any idea how much you paid for the repair back then? And have there been any subsequent problems since then? Many thanks in advance!

Hey, don't worry too much. After I had the mechanic on it, the problem with the low engine oil pressure was solved. It ended up costing me €175 to replace the wrong engine oil in the engine. Since then, there have been no further problems. It was definitely worth the investment!

Thank you very much for your helpful feedback! That makes me feel a little more reassured. 175 is a lot of money, but of course it's nothing compared to the price of a new engine. I'll take my car to the garage first thing tomorrow and hope it's nothing serious. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

It seems like your 2016 Mercedes ML likely has an oil pressure issue; this is indicated by the oil light. I would firstly check the oil levels. If they are not low, it could be a faulty sensor, clogged filter, or failing oil pump. Get a diagnostic scan and consult a reputable person for further inspection. Good luck!

Hey, I'm through with my 2013 Mercedes GL Class. I also put the wrong oil in once. The result wasn't pretty, the oil light was also on and there were metal shavings on the stator. The workshop said that the oil pressure and lubrication were not optimal with the wrong oil and that got the whole thing rolling. The pistons and cylinders were affected and the engine had to be completely opened up so that the metal shavings could be removed and damaged parts replaced. So, it was quite a job. Better have it checked promptly before it gets any worse. In the end, there could even be a risk of engine damage.
