Washer Fluid Warning Stays On

I've got a head-scratcher. My 2022 Seat Formentor with a diesel engine, clocking in at 162458 km, keeps displaying a "washer fluid low" warning on the dashboard light, even though the reservoir is full. The windshield washer system doesn't work. I've checked the obvious – the washer fluid level is definitely not too low. I even had a quick look for any obvious leaks, but didn't see anything. There is an error stored in the error memory. Could it be the washer motor, or is there a common issue with these cars I should know about? Any advice before I take it to the shop?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Seat Formentor displayed a persistent "washer fluid low" warning despite a full reservoir, and the windshield washer system was non-functional. Possible causes included a faulty sensor, blocked spray jets, or issues with the washer motor. Cleaning the spray jets with a needle was suggested as a potential DIY solution. Ultimately, topping off the washer fluid resolved the warning, indicating a sensitive sensor, and the error memory was cleared at a workshop.

I had something similar happen in my Formentor. The washer fluid low warning kept popping up even after filling it. Is it still under warranty? It could be a faulty sensor, but check the basics first. Make sure the spray jets aren't blocked. Sometimes, a little bit of dirt can cause issues.

Interesting. Blocked spray jets, you say? I wouldn't have thought of that. How would I check the jets? Is it an easy DIY thing, or am I better off letting the workshop have a look? The dashboard light is quite annoying.

That was exactly my experience. The dashboard light drove me nuts! Try cleaning the jets with a needle. If that doesn't fix it, and since you've already checked the fluid level, it's probably the sensor or the washer motor itself. Honestly, I'd recommend getting it checked out at a workshop. They can diagnose it properly, and it's a pain to get to the washer motor. Could be a quick fix, could be a bigger issue.

I topped off the washer fluid reservoir with proper screenwash, and the warning light disappeared after a short drive! I sprayed the jets a few times, and they're working fine now. It seems the sensor is just a bit too sensitive. The error memory was cleared at the workshop. The check cost 25€. Thanks for the heads-up!
