Weak Airflow in Insignia, DIY Fix or Mechanic?

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know it was the blower motor in your case. I'm seeing similar symptoms so it's probably the same issue. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole job? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other ventilation quirks pop up?

Hey again! Yeah, after getting my Astra fixed at the garage, it's been working like a charm! Just checked my old invoice, the whole thing set me back 365€, which included the new blower motor and labor costs. Not exactly cheap, but honestly worth every penny for proper ventilation again. Since they fixed it, the air flow has been perfect, nice and strong at all settings, just like when the car was new. No weird noises or issues at all. It's been such a relief, especially during the hot days when you really need that air conditioning working properly. Trust me, if you're seeing the same symptoms I had, better get it sorted sooner rather than later. These motors tend to just get worse over time, and you definitely don't want it dying completely on you during extreme weather. The repair was straightforward for my mechanic, and they had me back on the road the same day. Let me know if you need anything else!

Thanks for all that info! Actually, I bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was the blower motor! Ended up paying around 390€, a bit more than yours but still reasonable considering the work involved. The funny part was when they pulled out the old motor, it was completely clogged with leaves and debris! No wonder the air flow was so weak. The mechanic showed me everything and explained that this is pretty common with these models. They got it all sorted within a few hours. Drove home with the ventilation on full blast, just because I could! It's amazing what a difference it makes, feels like a new car. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it fixed! Case closed on this one!

I had a similar issue with my 2017 Vauxhall Corsa (1.4L petrol). The central locking was super unpredictable, sometimes working, sometimes not. Took it to my regular garage last month, turned out to be a faulty wire connection in the driver's door. The cable had worn out over time and was causing intermittent connection problems. Not a major repair job, but definitely something you want to get sorted soon. In my case, they had to replace the wiring harness in the door. The mechanic showed me where the original cable had started fraying, pretty common issue with these models after a few years of door opening/closing. Got it fixed at Thompson's Garage in Leeds, they specialize in Vauxhall repairs. Been running perfectly since then, no more unusual locking/unlocking issues.
