Windstar ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Issue

Hey, I'm stressed! My 2001 Ford Windstar with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The ABS light keeps popping on, and the whole ABS system seems to be failing. It's showing an error for the lateral acceleration sensor. Could this be related to the safety warning, yaw rate, steering angle, wheel alignment or electronic stability? Has anyone run into this before? I'm kinda clueless when it comes to this stuff.

I encountered a similar problem with my Windstar. The error code you are seeing, related to the lateral acceleration sensor, typically points to a fault within the control unit itself. Have you noticed any unusual handling characteristics or instability during turns?

Unusual handling? Hmm, now that you mention it, it does feel a little 'floaty' sometimes, especially on highway curves. Is that what you mean? What did you end up doing to fix your Windstar? Was it expensive? I'm dreading this...

Yes, the 'floaty' feeling aligns with the symptoms I experienced. Unfortunately, in my case, the control unit was indeed defective and required replacement. I recommend having a qualified workshop assess the control unit to confirm the diagnosis. While it might be possible to repair the unit, replacement is often the more reliable long-term solution.

Thanks so much for the info! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. They confirmed it's the control unit and quoted me around 1000€ for the replacement and recalibration. Ouch! But at least I know what's up. Thanks again!
