Windstar low heating output
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Ford Windstar is experiencing low heating output, and an error code is present. A defective water valve or a bad connection to it is suspected as the cause. While there are no coolant leaks or engine overheating, it is suggested to have a workshop inspect the vehicle, as a similar issue was resolved by replacing the water valve.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed any coolant leaks, and the engine temp seems normal. That's why I was thinking it might just be a bad connection to the valve, rather than the valve itself failing. Is that even possible?

Yeah, a bad connection is definitely possible. I chased a similar gremlin for ages. But honestly, given the symptoms and error code, and if you're not seeing overheating, it might be worth having a workshop take a quick look. I ended up biting the bullet, and they found the water valve itself was the culprit.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like that's the best bet. I saw a new water valve is about 95€, hopefully the workshop does not charge much more. I appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Windstar – though I can't recall the exact error code. Low heat is no fun. You mentioned a possible water valve issue. Have you checked for any coolant leaks? Is the engine overheating at all?
