Windstar Transmission Issues

My 2002 Ford Windstar, gasoline engine, is acting up. Mileage is at 25244 km. The automatic transmission's shifting is wonky, the transmission light's on, and it's not shifting right. Sometimes it goes into emergency mode. Suspect undervoltage.

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Ford Windstar is experiencing transmission issues, including erratic shifting, a transmission warning light, and entering emergency mode. The suspected cause is undervoltage, but worn-out transmission oil was confirmed as the problem. Replacing the transmission oil resolved the shifting issues.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had similar transmission performance issues with my Windstar. Was the hydraulic fluid level okay? Mine was slipping badly before I checked.

Fluid level was fine. Slipping transmission is a good way to describe it, though. Did yours throw any codes?

Yeah, codes galore. Eventually, the transmission oil got so bad the whole thing went haywire. I'd take it to a workshop; could save you a lot of headache.

Workshop confirmed worn-out transmission oil. Cost me 240€, but shifts like new again.
