Windstar Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Ford Windstar is experiencing transmission issues, including erratic shifting, a transmission warning light, and entering emergency mode. The suspected cause is undervoltage, but worn-out transmission oil was confirmed as the problem. Replacing the transmission oil resolved the shifting issues.

Fluid level was fine. Slipping transmission is a good way to describe it, though. Did yours throw any codes?

Yeah, codes galore. Eventually, the transmission oil got so bad the whole thing went haywire. I'd take it to a workshop; could save you a lot of headache.

Workshop confirmed worn-out transmission oil. Cost me 240€, but shifts like new again.

Sounds familiar. I had similar transmission performance issues with my Windstar. Was the hydraulic fluid level okay? Mine was slipping badly before I checked.
