Wingroad MOST Bus Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Nissan Wingroad is experiencing a complete audio and navigation system failure, with diagnostics indicating a MOST bus fault. This issue may be related to a control unit problem within the fiber optic network. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by identifying a faulty amplifier on the MOST bus, suggesting that specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise are needed to pinpoint the exact cause. It is recommended to consult a professional shop experienced in car diagnostics and fiber optics to address the issue effectively.

Thanks for the reply! No, the diagnostic tool just flagged the general MOST bus fault, not a specific module. How did you pinpoint the amplifier on your Audi? Did you just start swapping parts, or was there a more scientific way to figure it out?

I didn't just start throwing parts at it! I took it to a shop that specialized in German cars. They had some fancy equipment to test each component on the MOST bus. It's a serial bus network, so if one thing fails, it can take down the whole system. Honestly, with a general error like that, I'd recommend taking it to a shop with experience in car diagnostics and fiber optics. It’ll save you a headache in the long run. In the end it was the amplifier, and I remember it costing a pretty penny back then.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I was hoping to avoid the shop, but it sounds like I'm in over my head. I'll book it in this week. Got an estimate of about 1000€, so fingers crossed that will be it. Appreciate the help!

That sounds rough! I had something similar happen on my old '14 Audi A4. The MMI just went kaput. Same symptoms: no audio, nav dead, and a bunch of error codes. Turns out, it was a faulty amplifier on the MOST bus. Those fiber optic networks can be a real pain when one thing goes down. Was the diagnostic tool specific about which control unit is throwing the error?
