WRV Engine Smoke and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Honda WRV with a diesel engine is experiencing reduced power and smoke during acceleration, accompanied by a check engine light. These symptoms may be linked to a malfunctioning crankcase ventilation valve, which can cause an imbalance in the engine, leading to increased oil consumption and smoke. It is suggested to have the valve checked and possibly replaced to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your insight. I haven't specifically checked for unusual noises. Could you elaborate on the connection between the ventilation system and the observed smoke?

The crankcase ventilation system recirculates gases back into the engine. If the valve is defective, it can cause an imbalance, leading to increased oil consumption and, consequently, smoke. I ended up going to the workshop and they confirmed that it was a defective ventilation valve. It might be best to get it checked.

I appreciate the clarification. I'll schedule a visit to the workshop to diagnose the crankcase ventilation valve. Eventually the bill was 360€. Thanks again for your help.

I had similar symptoms on my WRV. Have you checked for any unusual noises at idle or any signs of oil leaks around the engine? Excessive smoke, especially under acceleration, could definitely point to a ventilation issue affecting emissions.
