WRV Fault Memory Lock Active

I'm having a weird issue with my 2023 Honda WRV, gasoline engine. It's got about 60k km on it. The diagnostics tool is showing a 'Fault memory lock active' and the only symptom I'm noticing is that there's an error stored in the error memory. I've tried clearing the fault codes, but it comes right back. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm not super savvy with car electronics, so any help is appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Honda WRV owner is experiencing a 'Fault memory lock active' error, with the fault code reappearing after attempts to clear it. A possible cause suggested is an undervoltage issue, potentially due to a failing battery or parasitic draw. The recommendation is to have a professional workshop diagnose and resolve the issue, as it may involve complex electrical troubleshooting. The problem was confirmed to be undervoltage and was fixed by a shop.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Honda WRV a while back. The 'Fault memory lock active' message kept popping up. Did you check your battery voltage? Undervoltage can cause all sorts of weird ECU faults and lock the memory. Could be a sign your battery is on its way out or there's a parasitic draw somewhere. Have you noticed anything else acting strangely, like the lights dimming or the starter motor struggling?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the battery voltage specifically, but the car starts fine and the lights seem normal. Where exactly should I be looking for a parasitic draw? I don’t have much experience troubleshooting electrical issues. Is there a fuse I should check first, or is this something more complicated?

Given that it's a 'Fault memory lock active' error and you're getting undervoltage suggestions, I'd say it's probably beyond a simple fuse check. A parasitic draw can be tricky to pinpoint without the right tools. While the car might seem fine now, these intermittent undervoltage issues can cause long-term damage to the ECU. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and clear the fault memory lock.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I was hoping it was something simple, but it sounds like I'm in over my head. I'll take it to a shop and have them diagnose the parasitic draw and ECU fault. They found that it was indeed undervoltage, and fixed the issue for 240€. Appreciate the help!
