WRV Solar Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Honda WRV with a gasoline engine is experiencing a solar sensor fault, leading to low heating output. The issue was initially suspected to be a dodgy connection or a bad sensor. After checking live data and finding static values, it was determined that the problem was likely due to a corroded plug on the sensor harness, which led to water ingress and a faulty sensor. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue.

Good shout on the live data. I checked it, but the values were static, even when I was blasting a flashlight at it. Zero change. Could a bad earth cause this, or is it likely a duff sensor?

Static values definitely point to a sensor issue, or wiring right up to the ECU. A bad ground could cause it, but it's less likely if other sensors on the same ground are working fine. I would check the wiring harness with a multimeter and then take it to the workshop.

Cheers for confirming my suspicions. It ended up being a corroded plug on the sensor harness, just as you said. Cleaned it, but no joy, so looks like water ingress fried the sensor itself. Replaced the sensor and good as new, cost me about 95€. Appreciate the help!

Low heating and solar sensor fault at the same time? Odd. Did you check live data from the sensor with a scan tool? What values are you seeing? It should react to sunlight.
