WRV water sensor issue

I'm having trouble with my 2022 Honda WRV diesel. The check engine light keeps popping on, and I pulled the error codes – seems like it's the water sensor. The engine's also running a bit rough. Has anyone else experienced this? My WRV has 233759 km. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Honda WRV diesel owner experienced a persistent check engine light and rough engine performance, with error codes indicating a water sensor issue. The problem was likely due to a faulty sensor or a loose connection in the wiring. Suggestions included checking the sensor's plug and wiring for damage or loose connections. Ultimately, a mechanic confirmed and resolved the issue by fixing a faulty cable or plug connection.

I had a similar issue with my WRV. The water sensor can be a pain. Does the error code point specifically to a sensor malfunction, or is it more general? It could be something as simple as a loose connection or a damaged wire leading to the sensor. Give the cables and plug a check.

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code does point directly to the water sensor. When you say 'loose connection,' where exactly should I be looking? I'm not very familiar with auto electronics, what does the sensor do anyway?

Okay, so if the code is specific, a faulty sensor is likely. The water sensor detects water in the fuel filter. The connection I'm referring to is the plug that connects the sensor to the car's wiring. It's usually a small, plastic connector. Check if it's securely attached and if the wires going into the plug are damaged. To be honest, though, given the specific error and rough running, you might be best off having a workshop take a look. They can properly test the sensor and wiring.

Thanks a lot for your help! I checked the connection, but everything seemed okay. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right – it was a faulty cable or plug connection! They sorted it out for 95€. Appreciate the advice!
