XC40 ABS Speed Signal Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Volvo XC40 hybrid is experiencing a speed signal fault, causing the ABS lamp to light up, traction issues, and incorrect speed readings, though the odometer remains functional. The problem may stem from a faulty sensor or potentially the ECM. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a defective ABS control unit due to internal corrosion, suggesting a workshop visit for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Yeah, the dash is pretty much lit up constantly now. Was it a straight sensor issue, or did you have to replace the whole ABS unit? Trying to figure out if I can DIY this or if it's workshop time. My understanding is that with the ABS malfunctioning, cruise control does not work either

Unfortunately for me, it wasn't just the sensor. The control unit itself was defective. I was hoping for a quick sensor replacement, but the shop said the whole unit needed replacing – something about internal corrosion. So, best to take it to a workshop to find out what is wrong. Don't want your problems getting worse.

That's what I was afraid of. I'll get it booked in. Local shop confirmed the defective control unit, and quoted 1000€ for the repair; will post the outcome once complete.

I had something similar happen, though mine is not a 2022 model. ABS and traction going haywire. It felt like driving on ice even on dry pavement. Is the dashboard lighting up? For me, it was the ABS module throwing fits. Check if the sensor wire harness is damaged. They are known for getting hammered by road debris.
