XC40 Climate Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The climate control system in a 2019 Volvo XC40 hybrid is not functioning, with the panel being unresponsive, an error code present, weak heating, and no air conditioning. The issue could stem from a minor electrical fault, such as a defective cable or plug connection, or a more significant problem. Suggested solutions include checking fuses, considering a battery disconnect for a reset, and ultimately taking the vehicle to a workshop for proper diagnostics. The problem was identified as a defective electrical connector in the HVAC system, which was repaired at a cost.

Good point about the battery disconnect. It could cause issues, though unlikely in a modern car. Since you've already checked the basics, and you're concerned, it really does sound like something a workshop needs to diagnose properly. Based on your description, especially the stored error code, it may well be a defective cable or plug connection. These things happen. A garage can pinpoint the issue with diagnostics tools far easier than we can on a forum.

Would disconnecting the battery erase stored settings or require recalibration? I'm hesitant without knowing the consequences.

Took it to a workshop as suggested. It was a defective electrical connector in the HVAC system. Repair was 95€.

Interesting. The XC40's climate control can be finicky. Any other electrical issues? A failing sensor or software glitch could cause this. Is it under warranty? If so, take it to Volvo. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while? It's a long shot, but a hard reset can clear up weird electrical issues.
