XC40 Cruise Control Failure

Alright, car gurus, need some help here! My 2015 Volvo XC40 (gasoline engine) is giving me fits. The cruise control just flat-out stopped working. No engagement, no light, nada. I hooked it up to a reader and it's throwing an error code related to the system, so definitely stored in the error memory. I'm thinking it's likely a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Anyone seen this before? It's like hitting a brick wall at 120 km/h – smooth sailing one second, BAM, nothing the next!

Sounds familiar. Had a similar cruise control shutdown on my old Renault Megane. Turned out to be a faulty pedal switch. Any chance you've checked that first? Or maybe a blown fuse?

Interesting! Pedal switch, huh? I hadn't considered that. Where exactly is that located, and how would I test it? Also, is there a dedicated fuse for the cruise control on the XC40, or is it tied into something else?

Yeah, the pedal switch is usually right behind the brake pedal. As for testing, you'd need a multimeter. But honestly, messing with it could cause more problems if you're not familiar. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. It's likely going to be an easy fix, but you don't want to risk damaging anything else.

Thanks a bunch! I went to my local shop. Turned out to be a defective cable - just like I suspected. They replaced the cable of the component, parts and labor, for 95€. The cruise control works like a charm again!
