Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo XC40 diesel with 155,000 km is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) issue. Yeah, the engine light is on, forgot to mention that. So, with your Peugeot, was it definitely the DPF itself that was the problem? Or could it have been something else triggering it?

In my case, it was the DPF, definitely. Turns out, short trips were clogging it up like cholesterol in your arteries! Eventually, it gave up the ghost completely. I'd get it checked out by a workshop ASAP. Could be a sensor, but those symptoms are classic DPF failure.

Cheers for the info. Sounds like I'm heading for a hefty bill. Workshop confirmed: defective DPF. Quoted 1550€.

Ugh, that sounds rough. I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot 308, though yours being a Volvo is probably built a bit better. Reduced power and smoke? Sounds like a clogged artery in your exhaust system! Any engine light on the dash? Could also be a faulty sensor messing with the DPF regeneration cycle. Is it trying to clean and failing?
