XC40 engine stalling reduced power
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo XC40 is experiencing engine stalling, reduced power, and an illuminated check engine light. A faulty rail pressure sensor is suggested as a possible cause of these issues. It is recommended to have the fuel pressure checked and the sensor diagnosed by a professional, as similar symptoms were resolved by replacing a defective sensor.

Fuel pressure - no, I haven't checked that. How difficult is it to diagnose a faulty rail pressure sensor signal?

It can be tricky without the right tools. The sensor signal can fluctuate, leading to those symptoms you described. Given the stalling and reduced power, I'd say it's worth getting it checked by a workshop. My issue turned out to be a defective sensor. Cost around 240€ to fix.

Thanks for the info! I'll take it to a mechanic to check the sensor then. Seems like that's the most probable cause.

Sounds familiar. I have an XC40 too, and I had almost the exact same symptoms a while back. Rail pressure sensor issues, maybe? Have you checked the fuel pressure?
