XC40 rear window heating issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 electric Volvo XC40 with 66,000 km has a non-functional rear window heating system and weaker windshield heating. The issue might be linked to a discharged or faulty battery, as suggested by a similar experience from another owner. The recommended solution is to visit a workshop to check the error code and confirm if the battery is the cause, avoiding any self-repair attempts.

Yeah, the rear defroster is totally gone. Heating coil is dead. Windshield heating is there, but noticeably weaker. So, what did you do to fix it? Was it a straightforward battery replacement?

Sounds exactly like my issue. Rear window heating just packed it in completely, thermal window was useless. The slightly weaker windshield heating was also present. I'd say it's time to visit the workshop. They can check the error code and confirm if it's the battery. Don't risk messing with the electrics yourself!

Okay, thanks! I'll book it in at the shop. Hopefully, it is 'just' the battery and nothing more serious with the heating coil. I saw 290€ repair cost pop up on the dash. Fingers crossed!

I had something similar happen in my XC40. Was your rear defroster completely dead? Did you also notice it after a cold snap? For me it was indeed the battery...
