XC40 Reduced Engine Power

I'm having a serious issue with my 2019 Volvo XC40 gasoline. It's got about 99705 km on it. Lately, the engine power has been noticeably reduced, and the check engine light keeps popping up. Feels like a major response delay when I hit the gas, like the car is thinking about it before actually doing anything. Any ideas? Could it be a dirty air intake or something related to the throttle body? I'm not super tech-savvy, but I'm trying to figure this out!

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my XC40, though I can't remember the exact mileage. That reduced power and check engine light combo could point to a defective accelerator pedal module or some kind of electronic glitch messing with the throttle valve. It's like the car's brain is misinterpreting what your foot is telling it to do. Have you noticed any weird idling or changes in air flow?

Weird idling? Not really. But that accelerator pedal module thing sounds scary and expensive! How did you figure out it was the throttle valve on yours? And was it a pain to fix? Was the 'thinking about it' delay as bad for you, too?

Yeah, the delay was definitely there! I eventually took it to a workshop. They ran diagnostics and confirmed it was the throttle valve acting up. Honestly, with electronics, it's tough to diagnose yourself without the right tools. The cost to fix mine was around 265€. My advice would be to get it checked out professionally before you start throwing parts at it. Could save you some money and a headache in the long run.

Thanks a bunch! I'll book an appointment with my local workshop ASAP. I appreciate you sharing your experience; it sounds like our problems are pretty much identical. Hopefully, the diagnosis will be straightforward, and I can get it sorted without too much fuss! Seems like I should prepare myself for the 265€ bill, though.
