Summary of the thread
A 2017 Volvo XC60 hybrid experienced an illuminated ABS lamp and traction problems, indicating ABS failure. The issue developed gradually, suggesting a possible speed signal fault or a defective control unit. It was advised to have the vehicle checked by professionals due to the complexity of the systems involved. The workshop confirmed a defective control unit as the cause of the problem.

Thank you for your reply. The failure occurred gradually. What exactly do you mean by 'transmission input'? Is this something I can check myself, or does it require specialized equipment?

Since it happened gradually, a speed signal fault causing the ABS malfunction is even more likely. The transmission input refers to the data being sent from the transmission to the ABS control unit. I'd advise against DIY unless you're experienced. These systems are complex; you risk doing more damage. Probably best to take it to a workshop.

Understood. I appreciate your advice, I will take it to a workshop to get it checked by a professional. I will let you know the diagnosis. The workshop confirmed a defective control unit, and the repair cost came to around 1000€. Thank you for your help!

I had something similar in my XC60, could be a speed signal fault. Have you checked the transmission input? A defective control unit can cause all sorts of ABS issues. It's worth investigating. Did the ABS fail suddenly or gradually?
