XC60 Crankshaft Camshaft Error

Experiencing a 'Crankshaft to camshaft reference value' error on my 2021 Volvo XC60 hybrid (119729 km). Check engine light is on, with reduced engine power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. Suspecting a defective crankshaft sensor. Anyone else encountered this? What could be the problem?

Oh no, that sounds familiar! I have an XC60 too and had similar symptoms a while back - engine light on, felt like it was dragging, and I swear it was drinking fuel. Did you notice any unusual noises or vibrations?

Interesting. No unusual noises or vibrations, just the performance issues and increased fuel consumption. Was the 'Crankshaft to camshaft reference value' error also the culprit in your case? What did it end up being?

Yep, that was exactly it! The error code was the same. Honestly, I tried looking into the timing chain myself, but quickly realized it was beyond my capabilities. I took it to a trusted mechanic, and they confirmed it. I would recommend to go to the workshop!

Thanks for the insight! Turns out, a defective crankshaft sensor was indeed the problem. Replaced it, and the car is now running smoothly again. Total cost: 340€. Your experience helped me narrow it down!
