XC60 Diesel Injection Issue

My 2019 XC60 diesel is throwing curveballs. Mileage is at 220673 km. Getting higher fuel consumption than usual, engine power feels reduced, it sometimes stalls at idle, and there's smoke when I accelerate. I suspect it's the injection system, but could a defective cable or plug connection really cause all this?

Those are classic injection system fault symptoms! Have you checked for any obvious fuel leaks around the injectors or the high-pressure pump? What about the electrical connections to the injectors themselves? A loose or corroded connector can definitely mess with the fuel delivery and cause all sorts of mayhem.

Where exactly should I be looking for these 'electrical connections'? Is there a specific injector I should check first, or is it a check-everything-and-pray situation?

Not quite a pray situation, but thoroughness helps! Check the connections to all the injectors, one by one. They're usually pretty accessible. But I would also recommend going to the workshop. If all the connections are fine, maybe the electronic control unit is faulty. Diagnosing that on your own is nearly impossible.

It was indeed a defective plug connection to one of the injectors. Replaced the plug, and she's running like new again. Total cost 95€.
