XC60 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Volvo XC60 diesel with 183,877 km exhibited a warning light, smoke during acceleration, and a non-regenerating DPF, leading to suspicion of a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. The symptoms were confirmed by another owner who experienced a similar issue. The suggested solution was to check error codes and consult a workshop. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective sensor, costing 245€.

It's not really running rough, just the smoke and the light. I haven't checked the error codes yet, I don't have a reader. Are you saying it was definitely the exhaust back pressure sensor for you?

Yeah, those were my symptoms too. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor. I'd suggest getting the error codes read to confirm, but it sounds like the same issue. Might be best to get it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the info. I took it to the shop, and you were right, the exhaust back pressure sensor was defective. They replaced it, cost me 245€ all in. Problem solved!

I had something similar with my XC60. Is the car running rough? Check the sensor connections, could be a loose wire. What kind of error code did you get?
