XC60 MOST Bus Fault

Hi, I'm experiencing a MOST bus fault in my 2008 Volvo XC60 with a gasoline engine. The car has 71980 km on the clock. The audio system is completely dead and the navigation system is non-functional. Diag reports error stored in the error memory, pointing towards a MOST bus issue. I suspect a defect in one of the control units installed in the MOST bus. Has anyone else encountered this?

Good day. A MOST bus fault, you say? Those can be rather intricate. It's quite common for Volvo models of that era. Have you by any chance tried a hard reset of the system? Furthermore, could you elaborate on the specific error codes retrieved during the diagnostics? This could potentially narrow down the culprit. This issue can arise from something as trivial as a loose connection to a more substantial hardware failure. Do you have any experience in automotive diagnostics?

Thanks for the quick reply. I did try a hard reset, but no luck. Regarding the error codes, I'll have to check them again, but I believe they were generic MOST bus communication errors. I have some experience with car diagnostics, and I suspect it may be a hardware issue with one of the modules on the MOST ring. Do you know if there is a common point of failure for MOST bus issues in this model?

Acknowledged. Generic MOST bus communication errors, in conjunction with your prior troubleshooting efforts, do indeed suggest a potentially more severe underlying problem than initially anticipated. The fact that a hard reset proved ineffectual further corroborates this assertion. Given your experience and the symptoms described, it would be prudent to have the vehicle examined by a qualified technician equipped with the appropriate diagnostic tools and expertise. Pursuing this independently without such resources could potentially lead to further complications and increased costs. I suggest a competent workshop.

Thank you, I appreciate the detailed advice. I suspected as much. I've booked it into a workshop; they quoted around 1000€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. I'll share the outcome once they've identified the faulty unit.
