XC60 Overheating Issue

My 2015 XC60 diesel is overheating, 178310 km on the clock. The check engine light is on. I suspect the radiator fan or a dodgy speed sensor. Has anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I've got an XC60 as well, and had similar overheating issues. Check if the fan motor is spinning freely or if the fan blade is damaged. Could be a simple fix, or something more involved.

When you say 'similar' how similar are we talking? Was it the fan itself, or something else causing it not to kick in? I'm trying to avoid buying a new fan if it's just a sensor issue.

Pretty similar. My XC60 overheated and the check engine light came on, it was the fan. Honestly, I'd just take it to a reputable workshop and let them diagnose it properly. Could save you time and money.

Okay, fair enough. I'll book it in. It was the speed sensor on the radiator fan – new sensor and all in for 250€.
