XC60 Reduced Engine Power and Generator Issues

I'm having trouble with my 2020 Volvo XC60 diesel. It only has 21838 km on it. Recently, a 'Reduced Engine Power' message appeared, with a warning light. The car struggles to start sometimes, and the lights flicker. A diagnostic check found a generator error. Could a defective generator cause all of this?

Yep, for me the symptoms disappeared after changing the generator. Seems you need a new one. Get a quote from a reputable workshop to avoid getting ripped off.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion and for the advice! The workshop confirmed that the generator is defective, and the replacement will cost 960€. Hopefully, that'll be the end of this.
