XC60 Reduced Engine Power Throttle Valve
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Volvo XC60 diesel with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing 'Reduced Engine Power' warnings and a check engine light, suggesting a potential issue with the throttle valve, accelerator pedal module, or electronics. The problem includes response delay and occasional limp mode activation. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by diagnosing and replacing a faulty throttle sensor. Following this advice, the throttle valve was replaced, resolving the issue and restoring the vehicle's performance.

Response delay, yes! It feels like it takes a second for the engine to react when I press the accelerator. And limp mode... sometimes on the highway. What was the problem with your BMW, and how did you fix it?

Yeah, sounds familiar. For me, it was the throttle sensor acting up. I ended up taking it to a workshop, they diagnosed it pretty quickly. I'd suggest doing the same, especially with those symptoms.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on. The throttle valve was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the total cost came to 265€. Runs like a dream now!

I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series, though it wasn't exactly the same. Did you notice any response delay from the throttle, or maybe the car going into limp mode?
