XC70 ABS lamp lateral acceleration sensor error

Hi, I've got a 2006 Volvo XC70 diesel with about 105000 km on the clock. Recently the ABS lamp keeps lighting up, and the ABS system seems to be failing. I scanned it and it stored an error related to the lateral acceleration sensor. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue on my XC70. The error code pointed to a faulty lateral acceleration sensor. Have you checked the connections to the sensor and the control unit? A diagnostic scan should confirm if the electronic control unit is defective.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check the connections, but everything seemed fine. The diagnostic scan does indicate a defective control unit, but I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue before I commit to replacing it.

Yes, the affected control unit being defective is the most likely cause in my case. Given that you've checked the connections and the diagnostic scan points to the control unit, a replacement is likely necessary. Consider visiting a workshop.

Thanks for confirming. I appreciate the help. I took it to the workshop as suggested, and it turned out the lateral acceleration sensor control unit was indeed defective and was replaced, costing around 1000€. All good now.
