XC70 Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Volvo XC70 diesel's audio system is completely silent, with an error stored, leading to suspicion of a defective display. The issue might be related to the head unit, as similar problems have been resolved by replacing it. A workshop visit is recommended for diagnosis and potential replacement of the display to restore audio functionality, including parking sensor sounds.

No crackle or static, just dead silence. The dashboard controls seem responsive, but nothing comes out of the speakers. Where did you experience the issue with your car? Was it the head unit itself?

Yeah, sounds like what happened to mine. I messed around with it for a while but ultimately I think it was the head unit. A replacement display did the trick. It's worth getting it checked by a workshop – saved me a lot of time and messing around.

Thanks for the info. I'll take it to a shop. Seems like a common issue. Just got a quote for 725€, so display it is.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my XC70. Any speaker crackle or static noise before it went silent? Check your dashboard controls, particularly the head unit. Could be a loose connection or a failing component.
