XC70 Brake Pedal Feedback
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Volvo XC70 owner experienced unusual brake pedal feedback, described as feeling "wooden." The issue was suspected to be related to the brake calipers but was later identified as an undervoltage problem affecting the electronic systems, including the auto stop/start feature. The solution involved replacing the battery and checking the braking system, which resolved the issue.

Undervoltage, eh? I hadn't thought of that. Actually, the auto stop/start hasn't been working consistently. Could that be related, and what was the end cost? Brakes are important, and I don’t want to risk anything to do with the brake pads.

Yes, the stop/start issue is very likely related. This car depends on reliable electronic systems, so if the electrics are not stable, the car will not behave as expected. I recommend getting the car to your local workshop. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I took it to the workshop; turns out you were spot on – undervoltage was causing havoc and I needed a new battery. New battery and a check of the braking system and it cost me 240€. Now the brakes are working as they should! Thanks again for the tip.

I had a similar problem with my XC70. It turned out to be undervoltage in the system messing with the brake system. Have you had any other electrical issues?
