XC70 Climate Control Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Volvo XC70 owner reported a climate control issue where the panel wasn't working, with an error indicating low heating output and non-functional air conditioning. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues. The problem was suggested to be related to power supply or electronic faults, possibly due to a defective cable or loose plug connection. The owner was advised to inspect the wiring harness and plug connections behind the climate control unit. Eventually, a workshop confirmed and fixed a defective plug connection.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly should I be looking for the wiring harness and plug connections? I'm not very familiar with the Volvo XC70's layout.

Okay, so the climate control unit itself is usually in the center console. You'll need to remove some trim panels to get to it. Search online for 'XC70 center console removal' videos. Once you have access to the back of the unit, you'll see the wiring harness and plug. Given your symptoms and error code, and without specialized tools, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Diagnosis and repair of electrical issues can be tricky without the right equipment. Better to be safe than sorry and risk damaging something.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was a defective plug connection. They fixed it for 95€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a power supply issue or potentially some electronic faults within the climate control system itself. The fact that you're seeing multiple symptoms points away from a simple sensor failure like a temperature sensor. Have you had a look at the wiring harness and plug connections going to the climate control unit? A defective cable or a loose plug can definitely cause those symptoms. It might be worth checking the voltage at the connector to see if it's getting the correct power.
