XC70 Hands Free System Failure

Hi, I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine. I'm having trouble with the hands-free system. Telephony is no longer possible, and the car's error memory has stored an error related to it. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any ideas?

Hey! That sounds frustrating. When you say 'telephony no longer possible,' can you elaborate? Does the Bluetooth connect at all? Is there just no sound when you try to make a call? It almost sounds like a Bluetooth issue, but with an error code, it could be something more.

Thanks for the quick response! The Bluetooth seems to connect fine; my phone recognizes the car and connects successfully. However, when I try to make a call, the other user can't hear me, and I can't hear them. Could it be the microphone itself?

Okay, that clarifies things. It definitely points towards the microphone being the issue. It's possible the mic is faulty, or there's a problem with the connection to the infotainment system. Given the age of the car, a failing infotainment system could also be the culprit. Unfortunately, without proper diagnostic tools, it's tough to pinpoint the exact cause. To avoid replacing things unnecessarily, I'd recommend a workshop visit. They can properly diagnose the issue.

Thanks so much for your help! I took it to a local mechanic, and it turned out to be a defective infotainment system, as you suspected. The repair cost me 815€. At least now I can make calls again!
