XC70 Incorrect Vehicle Coding Error
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Volvo XC70 owner experienced an error message related to incorrect vehicle coding, indicated by a fault code in the infotainment and speedometer. Another owner with a similar issue suggested using a scan tool to confirm the fault code, which also pointed to a coding problem. The recommended solution was to have the control module checked by a professional workshop, which resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did use my scanner and got the fault code. Was your fault code also about a coding problem, or something else? Any details would help.

Yes, the fault code I got pointed to a coding issue as well. If I remember correctly, it's best to have the control module checked out by a workshop. It is a tricky thing to fix.

Just to let you know, I took the XC70 to my mechanic. It was incorrect vehicle coding, like we thought. Cost 360€. Thanks for sharing your experiences; your advice helped a lot.

I had something similar happen on my XC70. The engine light came on too. It was a weird situation. I'm no expert, but have you tried using a scan tool to read the fault code? That might give you a better idea of what's going on.
