XC70 Knock Sensor Issue

My 2016 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine is throwing codes. 198495 km on the clock. Check engine light is on, fuel consumption has gone up, and the idle is rough. After scanning, it points to a defective knock sensor. I've visually checked the sensor itself, and it looks okay, but I'm leaning towards a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone seen anything similar?

Interesting issue. I had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra a few years back. Check engine light, rough idle, the whole shebang. The mechanic initially suspected a sensor issue, but it turned out to be a corroded connector causing intermittent signal loss. Is the wiring harness in good condition, with no signs of damage?

I gave the harness a quick look, but nothing jumped out. Whereabouts was the corroded connector on your Astra? Was it right at the sensor, or further down the line? Any tips on what to look for specifically?

On my Astra, it was right at the sensor plug itself. It looked fine at first glance, but closer inspection revealed a green crust forming inside the connector. Given the symptoms and error code, it's worth having a professional check it out, as fiddling with it yourself might make things worse.

Thanks for the info! I had a mechanic take a look, and you nailed it - corroded connector! New connector and knock sensor as a precaution, cost me about 95€ all in, and she's running smooth as butter again. Appreciate the help!
