Thanks for the quick reply! I did a quick visual check of the intake, but didn't see anything obvious. Where exactly did you find the leak and what did you do to solve it?

In my case, there was no leak. I did check, of course, but all hoses were properly attached and undamaged. It turned out to be simply a failing MAF sensor. Given your symptoms are so similar, I believe it's highly probable you have the same problem. While some attempt DIY replacement, I suggest you have it checked by a workshop, since the sensor is quite expensive.

You nailed it! Took it to my local guy, and he confirmed the MAF sensor was kaput. Got it replaced, cost me about 365€ all in, and she's running like a dream again. Fuel economy is back to normal, no more stalling, and the check engine light is gone. Thanks so much for your help!

Greetings. Your symptoms do indeed suggest a faulty MAF sensor. I had very similar issues with my XC70. Higher fuel consumption, stalling at lights – it was a nightmare! It is plausible the mass air flow sensor is indeed the root cause of your woes. Have you perhaps inspected the air intake system for any obstructions or leaks?
