XC70 Oil Pressure Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Volvo XC70 owner experienced an oil pressure warning light, despite the oil level being adequate, but noticed the oil appeared sludgy. The issue was attributed to an exceeded maintenance interval, leading to oil sludge and a clogged oil filter. The solution involved an oil change, filter replacement, and engine cleaner, resolving the warning light issue.

The engine sounds okay, nothing too alarming, just maybe a little rougher than usual. How did you resolve the issue with your Opel? Was it just the oil filter?

In my case, it was indeed the oil filter and old oil. However, given your symptoms and the mileage, I would strongly recommend getting it checked by a professional. A clogged filter plus old oil can cause serious damage if left unaddressed.

I took it to a local shop, and it turned out that the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded, which caused the oil to sludge up and the oil filter to clog. They did an oil change, replaced the filter, and added some engine cleaner, all for 165€. The warning lights are gone now! I appreciate you sharing your past experience; it really helped me figure out what to do!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although the symptoms were not that severe. Does the engine sound rough? It could be something as simple as a blocked oil filter starving the engine.
