XC70 outside temperature sensor issues

My 2007 XC70 with a gasoline engine is having issues with the outside temperature sensor. The error code is stored, the AC won't turn on, my spray nozzles are frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating isn't working. I'm guessing it's a dodgy connection somewhere. Has anyone else battled this?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen in my XC70 a while back. Is your temperature gauge also reading crazy numbers? Like, saying it's -40 degrees when it's clearly not? I'm wondering if it's the same gremlin I fought.

Yeah, the gauge is all over the place. Sometimes it reads something close to right, then suddenly plummets to something ridiculous. Did you manage to sort it out yourself, or did you have to surrender to the mechanics?

Nah, I ended up taking it to the shop. They said it was probably the sensor itself, or a wiring issue related to it. I wasn't confident enough to start poking around myself, and honestly, with the AC not working I just wanted it fixed ASAP. Best to get it checked, as a faulty sensor affects other vehicle systems too.

Right, that's what I was afraid of. I appreciate the input! I'll get it looked at. It was a defective sensor and its wiring which they replaced for 95€. Thanks for the help!
