XC70 Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Volvo XC70 experienced power loss and displayed 'reduced engine power' warnings, suspected to be due to previous chip tuning. The issue was confirmed by a specialist, who identified the tuning as the cause. Reflashing the ECU resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yes, I used a generic scan tool, and it flagged an issue with the engine management system. Seemed pretty vague. Did your scanner point to anything specific? Was it also the result of third-party chip tuning?

Mine was a mess of codes related to fuel trim and ignition timing, all pointing back to a messed-up ECU map from a tuning company. I'd advise getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop; they'll likely confirm the dodgy tune.

Thanks for the info. Took it to a specialist, and you were spot on – the chip tuning was causing the issue. They reflashed the ECU, and it's running perfectly now. Cost me 180€, but worth it for the peace of mind.

I had something similar with my XC70. Check engine light came on, and the car felt sluggish. Have you scanned the fault codes yourself? What did the auto scanner show?
