XC70 rear ventilation flap issue

I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine and 69581 kilometers. The rear ventilation flap is causing issues: an error is stored, the climate control malfunctions, and the AC doesn't cool well. Diagnostics point to a defective cable or plug. Has anyone else had this? What can I do besides replacing the whole unit?

Sounds familiar. I had something similar on my XC70. Air con packed it in and the error codes were all over the place. Check the wiring harness first; could be a loose connection. It's like when a lightbulb flickers 'cause the wire's not tight.

Could you be more specific about which wiring harness you mean? Where is it located? Is it easy to get to, or will I need to take apart the interior?

Can't recall exactly which one, sorry. It was a while back. If you're not comfortable poking around, best take it to a workshop. It's like a doctor visit for your car, you know?

I appreciate your input. I proceeded with caution and consulted a technician. It was indeed a defective connector, and the repair cost 95€. Your suggestion helped avert a potentially more expensive repair. Thanks again.
