XC70 System readiness check incomplete error

Hey, I've got a 2007 Volvo XC70 diesel with 206832 km on the clock. Recently, I scanned it with an OBD2 reader, and now I'm getting a 'System readiness check incomplete' error. It's also showing an error message in the speedometer. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Volvo XC70 diesel owner encountered a 'System readiness check incomplete' error after using an OBD2 reader, which also displayed an error message on the speedometer. This issue often arises when the OBD2 scanner resets the readiness monitors, which need to complete their tests to ensure the emissions systems are functioning correctly. Suggested solutions included driving the car through various conditions to reset the monitors or consulting a workshop for a professional diagnostic tool reset. Ultimately, the workshop resolved the issue by resetting the readiness flags without any underlying faults or costs.

I am familiar with this issue, although I cannot say I know the build year of my XC70. The system readiness is a set of tests your car runs to ensure the emissions systems are working correctly. When you use an OBD2 scanner, it sometimes resets these readiness monitors. They need to run and complete before you can pass an emissions test or vehicle inspection. Try driving the car through various conditions (highway, city, stop-and-go) for a few days. The monitors should eventually set.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've driven it a bit since, but the error is still there. How long does it usually take for these monitors to reset, and is there a specific drive cycle I should follow?

Confirming that, according to my experience, sometimes certain drive cycles are required, and other times, the issue persists despite multiple attempts. In your situation, considering that the error remains, I would suggest consulting with a workshop, as it is possible that the OBD2 scan has affected some of the settings. Please be aware that some of these settings are automatically tested by the vehicle itself, which may not be possible if those settings are compromised. They can check the readiness monitors with their diagnostic tools and advise you if there's an underlying problem preventing them from setting.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to my local workshop, and it turned out the readiness flags just needed to be reset using their professional diagnostic tool. No actual fault, and no cost involved! Appreciate your help.
