XC90 Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
The audio system in a 2020 Volvo XC90 hybrid was completely non-functional, with no sound output despite the fuses being intact. The issue was suspected to be related to a defective bass speaker potentially affecting the entire system. After further investigation and advice, it was determined that the problem was indeed a faulty bass speaker that had caused the amplifier to fail. The issue was resolved by replacing the defective components, restoring the audio system's functionality.

Thanks for the quick reply! USB audio is also dead. The system recognizes the input, but no sound. Where is the speaker amp located? Is it integrated with the head unit?

Since USB audio is also failing, it does point to a faulty amp, or possibly a head unit issue, but that is much less common. The amp is usually located under one of the front seats or in the rear cargo area. Without proper diagnostic tools, I would suggest visiting a workshop to properly diagnose the problem.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and for the tip about the amp location! I took it to a local shop, and you were right; the bass speaker was indeed defective and had taken out the amp. Total repair cost was 280€. Problem solved!

I had a similar audio issue with my XC90. Have you tried playing audio via USB? Does the system recognize the input but still produce no sound? It could be a software glitch, but more likely, it’s the speaker amp.
